Care Instructions for Your Precious Shawls
Your Guide of Shawl Care
- What if there is colour variation between the product shown on the website and in the actual product I receive ? We ensure that we don’t manipulate the brightness or image quality of the product to avoid any colour discrepancies. But slight variation can happen because of the handwoven nature of our products.
- Cleaning & Washing : We highly recommend that you only dry clean the products available on our website. They are premium products and therefore need special care and maintenance.
- Authenticity of Pashmina : Real pashminas are very soft and warm to touch, owing to the thickness of the hair. But they are also matte, which means they don’t have any sheen. If you carefully check the weave against the light, you can see an irregular weave. Pure pashmina is woven on a handloom and hence will always have an irregular weave. These irregularities are a mark of real Pashmina products.Pilling is a quintessential feature with an animal fiber material. If there is no pilling on the shawl, then probably what you have in your hand is a synthetic product.
Shawl Care FAQs
How often should I wash my shawl?
It’s best to wash your shawl only when necessary, such as when it becomes visibly dirty or has absorbed odors. Over-washing can damage the fibers.
Can I use a washing machine?
We recommend dry cleaning to preserve the delicate fibers. If you must use a machine, choose a gentle cycle and place the shawl in a mesh laundry bag.
What should I do if my shawl gets stained?
Blot the stain gently with a clean cloth. Avoid rubbing. Use a mild detergent on the affected area and rinse thoroughly.
How do I prevent my shawl from pilling?
Avoid friction and rough surfaces. Store your shawl properly and handle it with care to minimize pilling.
Can I iron my shawl?
Use a low heat setting and place a cloth between the iron and the shawl to prevent direct contact with the fabric.
How should I store my shawl during off-season?
Store your shawl in a breathable fabric bag in a cool, dry place. Avoid plastic bags, which can trap moisture and cause mildew.
Is it safe to use fabric softener?
We advise against using fabric softeners as they can coat the fibers and reduce the natural softness of the shawl.
What is the best way to dry my shawl?
Lay it flat on a towel and reshape it while damp. Avoid hanging, as this can stretch the fabric.
How can I protect my shawl from moths?
Use cedar blocks or lavender sachets in your storage area to naturally repel moths and keep your shawls safe.
